Harvard University Scholarship is a scholarship scheme managed by Committee on General Scholarships of Harvard University, United States (US). The kind of scholarships are Sinclair Kennedy Traveling Fellowships, Frank Knox Memorial Traveling Fellowships, Frederick Sheldon Traveling Fellowships, Australian Graduate Research Scholarships for academic year 2012-2013.

These fellowships were established to support a full academic year (September-June) of research or study abroad for Harvard graduate students and graduates of Harvard’s graduate and professional schools. Harvard University Scholarship/Fellowship recipients are required to live at their research or study destinations for the length of the academic year. These fellowships are not intended to support multiple trips to research destinations for students who are based in Cambridge or elsewhere in the United States during the year. They are not available to support project periods of less than an academic year.
Harvard University Scholarship/Fellowships are $24,000 for the 2011-2012 academic year. The amount is likely to be similar for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Candidates of

Harvard University Scholarship

/Fellowship for the Kennedy, Knox, Sheldon Traveling Fellowships and the Australian Graduate Research Scholarships are evaluated by the following criteria:
  • Outstanding academic record;
  • Standing in the academic department and graduate or professional school;
  • Feasibility and quality of the proposed research, study, or travel;
  • Unique personal characteristics or non-academic contributions by the candidate.
Application Requirements

Candidates may not apply directly to the Committee on General Scholarships. They should complete the following application materials and submit them to their school’s designated officer according to the procedures established by their school to be considered for nomination:
  • Harvard University Scholarship/Fellowship Application Form
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Project Budget
  • Project Timeline
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which should be from a member of the Harvard faculty
  • Official transcripts from all graduate programs
Deadline for Harvard University Scholarship 2012-2013
Each school’s fellowship representative should submit their nomination list and the original copy of each student’s application to the Committee on General Scholarships, 14 Story Street, 3rd floor by 5:00pm, Friday, February 17, 2012. Harvard University Scholarship/Fellowship winners will be announced in April 2012. Please note that students cannot apply directly to the Committee on General Scholarship for these awards. Students must be nominated by their school. Each school may have an earlier deadline for submission of application materials. Interested candidates should contact their fellowship representative for further information.
